Tunneled Post

Among the client’s myriad obsessions, he wanted some of his model trains to run around his office. We already had Really Huge Posts in there. The tracks ran near eave level, on bridge timbers crafted from redwood planks that had carried real trains across a Great Salt Lake railroad trestle for a century. When the model tracks came to a post, it was not too difficult to punch through a tunnel. We shaped the adits to look like mouse holes, too, not one of his obsession.
